Who We Are

Nelson Landbou Verspreiders (PTY) LTD t/a Agri-Vet was first started in the Eastern Cape in February 1999 by Marius Nelson after resigning from the National Dept. of Agriculture.

Agri-Vet was initially a small family business that distributed nutritional, veterinary and animal health products.

The initial focus was primarily on providing these required supplies to the dairy industry.

Marius’ customer focus led to the development of close relationships with his clients, the farmer.

Examining each of his customer’s needs on an individual basis led to him offering organic based custom pre-mix solutions to his customers, a service which nobody else was providing at the time.

Organic minerals were always seen as expensive and therefore most premix companies have not exploited it.

These premixes were customized on a farm to farm basis, using the farm specific information to closely meet the requirements of the animals.

This service being offered was heralded by a hugely positive response from the customers and resulted in the massive growth of Agri-Vet across the Eastern Cape.

The huge interest and success in premixes meant that Marius now turned all his focus on providing premix solutions to his customers and resulted in Agri-Vet setting up a unique niche in the market.

Agri-Vet was one of the first to introduce total replacement with organic minerals in South Africa to our customers.

With business growing rapidly it was evident that the products and service offered by Agri-Vet needed to expand into other areas within South Africa.
